Puzzle Medical Devices Inc. is developing a percutaneous heart pump for patients with advanced heart failure. The device's design allows for safe percutaneous implantation to support both renal and cardiac function through a 4 mm-pump implanted in the descending aorta with a 4 Fr axillary driveline, allowing full patient mobility. To date, Puzzle Medical Devices Inc. has successfully: 

  • Completed 3 financing rounds in 2022, 2023, and 2025;

  • Completed its first-in-human study with all patients experiencing improvements in cardiac and kidney function from ; 

  • Grew its team to ~50 people;

  • Received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Breakthrough Device Designation in 2021.

Position Summary

Puzzle Medical Devices Inc. is seeking an Electromechanic to join our Facilities Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electromechanical systems across our facilities—including the machine shop, cleanrooms, laboratories, and offices.

This role ensures that equipment is installed safely, facility infrastructure remains operational, and technical systems run reliably to support R&D, manufacturing, and overall company operations.

We are looking for a hands-on, autonomous, resourceful individual with strong diagnostic skills and a passion for maintaining high-performance technical environments.

Role And Responsibilities

Equipment Installation & Infrastructure Support

  • Install, configure, and commission electromechanical equipment across machine shop, cleanroom, labs, and office spaces.

  • Support electrical and mechanical layout upgrades (e.g., power drops, ventilation hookups, compressed air lines, sensor systems, etc.).

  • Participate in facility modifications, small construction tasks, and equipment moves.

  • Ensure installations comply with safety standards and internal procedures.

Maintenance, Repair & Troubleshooting

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on machines, tools, HVAC components, pumps, compressors, cleanroom equipment, and other facility systems.

  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.

  • Repair equipment or coordinate with external vendors when necessary.

  • Maintain documentation of interventions and update maintenance logs.

Machine Shop & Cleanroom Technical Support

  • Support upkeep and calibration of machine shop equipment (mills, lathes, CNCs, tools, etc.).

  • Ensure cleanroom support systems (pressure control, filtration, monitoring equipment) remain functional and compliant.

  • Respond rapidly to equipment failures affecting operations.

Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and facility regulations.

  • Identify opportunities to improve system reliability and reduce downtime.

  • Assist in creating or updating procedures related to equipment operation and maintenance.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, and Operations teams.

Qualifications

Required

  • DEP or DEC in Electromechanics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field.

  • Experience installing and maintaining electromechanical systems in industrial, manufacturing, or laboratory settings.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.

  • Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and safe work habits.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, technical environment.

Assets (Nice-to-Have)

  • Experience with machine shop equipment (manual or CNC).

  • Experience working in cleanroom or controlled environments.

  • Familiarity with HVAC, building automation, or cleanroom infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance software or CMMS tools.
