Description

We are looking for a temporary Product Development Specialist to join GoodMorning on a 10 to 12-month contract. Throughout the contract, you will be a pivotal contributor to bringing our commercial vision to life through high-quality, innovative products. Working closely with cross-functional teammates, you will help expand our product portfolio by developing precise specifications and taking ownership of assigned deliverables, addressing real-time challenges, and achieving an optimal balance between cost, quality, and time-to-market. Your role is essential in growing 's competitive advantage within the market by ensuring seamless project execution, fostering continuous improvement, and supporting engineering objectives that align with broader company goals.

In this role, you will
  • Conduct research to identify industry trends, emerging technologies, and manufacturing constraints, applying insights to support the development of high-quality and innovative sleep products.

  • Create detailed technical specifications for products, defining functionality, performance criteria, and design requirements, while collaborating closely with Brand Management to ensure all specifications align with project goals and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify resource needs and align with management directives, ensuring optimal productivity and successful delivery of Consumer Product Development projects.

  • Enhance 's technical capabilities through data-backed analysis, and engage with suppliers and external partners to strengthen relationships that support cross-functional teams in achieving their objectives.

  • Support process improvements within the Consumer Product Development function by following compliance standards, monitoring project adherence to risk protocols, and safeguarding 's interests.

  • Execute assigned product development initiatives from concept through to completion, with accountability for scope, timing, and quality of assigned work, coordinating with Brand Management, Procurement, and other teams to meet company objectives and drive project success.

  • Develop testing methodologies to assess both 's products and competitor offerings, supporting efforts to benchmark quality and performance to identify areas for product improvement.

  • Be accountable for driving product testing and validation efforts, owning test execution, documentation, and issue resolution, to verify product performance, safety, durability, and quality, ensuring alignment with 's standards and regulatory and compliance requirements.

  • Use customer feedback to evaluate product performance and propose modifications that enhance functionality, durability, and customer satisfaction.

  • Track and analyze performance metrics within the Consumer Product Development function, using data insights to inform continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Conduct root-cause analysis on product issues identified during testing, owning corrective action proposals and follow-up until resolution to address challenges before product release.

  • Actively contribute within the Consumer Product Development function, providing subject-matter expertise to support decision-making and foster a culture of accountability and innovation.

  • Contribute actively to 's commitment to delivering top-quality products, upholding the company's reputation as a market leader.

  • Assist in project planning sessions, offering insights that align the Consumer Product Development function's work with company growth and sustainability goals.

  • Implement and support a risk management framework within the Consumer Product Development function to proactively identify and address potential product or process disruptions, contributing to operational resilience.

  • Promote open communication across the Consumer Product Development function and with other departments, ensuring alignment and clarity on product development strategies and outcomes.

Requirements Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Product Development, or a related field; a Master's degree is advantageous.

  • Minimum of 2–3 years in product development, ideally with experience in a support role within a cross-functional development environment.

  • Demonstrated expertise in managing project-specific goals, including SLAs, KPIs, and data-informed improvement initiatives.

  • Proficiency with product lifecycle management software and tools (e.g., CAD, PLM) to enhance development processes.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally.

  • Solid organizational abilities, capable of independently managing tasks and achieving project milestones within a structured framework.

  • Experience in vendor management would be a valuable asset.

Skills
  • Knowledge of product development practices, particularly in Canada and North America, with awareness of international trends that impact sleep product innovation.

  • Competency in data analysis and financial assessment, including basic cost modeling.

  • Ability to evaluate and engage with suppliers based on quality, compliance, cost, and sustainability to ensure alignment with 's goals.

  • Proficiency in incorporating production and supply chain insights into product specifications to optimize for quality, cost, and availability.

  • Engage in professional development to stay current with industry standards, constraints, and best practices, supporting team knowledge growth and technical proficiency.

  • Skilled in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating risks associated with development activities, with a focus on maintaining compliance and minimizing potential disruptions.

  • Proactive in implementing continuous improvement initiatives, whether through new processes, technologies, or best practices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to support decision-making and project outcomes.
