Key Responsibilities
Childcare Provider Support
- Act as a key contact for the Ministry's Childcare Claims Unit.
- Provide expert guidance on claims operations, program policy, and system use.
- Resolve complex claims and adjustment inquiries from childcare providers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve online claim submission errors.
- Investigate and resolve complaints related to claims, advances, and payments.
- Apply analytical and investigative skills to determine causes and solutions.
- Monitor system-generated QA reports before claims being released for approval.
- Coordinate and monitor post-payment verification activities.
- Identify potential claim errors, over payments, or fraud.
- Report on internal controls, system gaps, and program risks.
- Prepare analytical reports on claims activity, client volumes, and trends.
- Identify business information requirements to improve system reporting and controls.
- Manage the process for recovering funds owed to the Ministry by childcare providers.
- Maintain tracking tools and up-to-date recovery records.
- Draft and issue repayment requests.
- Coordinate follow-ups for overdue repayments.
- Escalate complex recovery cases to management.
- Report on recovery status, metrics, and outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to improve, streamline, or re-engineer business processes.
- Develop test scripts and coordinate user acceptance testing for system enhancements.
- Support system changes impacting claims processing and reporting.
- Onboard and train new Claims Payment Coordinators.
- Assign work, manage workloads, and monitor performance.
- Identify training gaps and support staff development.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Ministry branches including Technology, Finance, Program Evaluation, and Child Care Delivery.
- Liaise with childcare providers and early childhood educators.
- Provide input and information related to Alberta's childcare policies.
Requirements Mandatory Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) – 1 year
- MS Office (2010 or newer) – 2 years
- Analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills – 1 year
- Experience preparing reports and working with information systems
- Experience working in a team environment – 2 years
- Experience managing or supporting others in a team setting – 2 years
- Demonstrated ability to work with high attention to detail and data accuracy
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proven initiative and sound business judgment
- Strong communication and customer service skills

Soft Skills & Experience
- Ability to learn new systems quickly and processes – 2 years
- Experience using analytical skills to design or improve business processes – 1 year
