The Role

The School of Skilled Trades Grande Prairie is seeking a Plumber to instruct in the Plumbing Apprenticeship program on Fairview campus.  This is a full-time sessional appointment starting January 22, 2026, ending May 9, 2026.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Journeyperson/Red Seal certification in the plumber trade with a preferred minimum of five years experience as a Journeyperson.  Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

  • Candidates must be able to apply different instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles.
  • Knowledge of Northwestern Polytechnic courses and current educational technologies commonly found in classrooms (e.g., videoconferencing, D2L) are desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, specifically one who is willing to take a risk to create opportunities.
  • Highly qualified faculty, who seek to continuously improve instruction and meet the need of learners.
  • Willingness to work with and support the Teaching & Learning Centre.
  • Student Focused.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across the organization.
  • A high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
