Coordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating work accordingly
Determine staffing requirements for the service and oversee the hiring of staff
Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
Administer disciplinary action in accordance with established policies
Develop a departmental goal plan which will serve as the framework for the annual budget prepared in collaboration with the accounting department and approved by the Vice President (Operations)
Monitor actual results against the approved budget in the organization accounting system (Business Central) each month, to track performance
Attend and fully participate in all in person and virtual meetings
Maintain consistent communication with all relevant stakeholders, responding to e-mails in a timely manner
Complete a thorough transition process with the incoming manager that includes one on one meetings and a transition manual
Exhibit a working knowledge of Assistant Manager portfolios
Complete Harassment and Discrimination Advisor training, acting as a resource for employees in distress
Ensure all customer complaints are addressed and handled professionally, leaving the customer with a positive resolution
Accurately monitor, maintain and report inventories, the flow of products, and weekly orders
Maintain a calm demeanour during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to our level of standards, and to set a positive example for your team
Maintain positive working relationships with relevant suppliers related to all portfolios
Obtain a strong working knowledge and ensure proper operation of all equipment, including hardware and software
Actively seek opportunities for growth with the AMS, and Queen's internal groups, and external clients
Explore opportunities for improving environmental sustainability and social responsibility (for example, enhancing EDII) of the service alongside your managerial team
Perform all other duties assigned by Vice President (Operations)
Establish and maintain shift schedules and review time sheets periodically to ensure sufficient employee coverage and that there are no staffing issues
Oversee the day-to-day operations
Ensure employees have clear goals and are aware of expectations
Provide informal feedback and coaching to staff on an ongoing basis
Job Requirements
Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports
Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations
Ability to identify measures of performance and actions needed to improve or correct performance
Demonstrated time management skills
