LAPIS, on behalf of one of its dealerships located in the Palm Springs area, has an immediate position available for an
Experienced Automotive Assistant Controller
who will be managing the day-to-day accounting for the dealership. The ideal candidate has worked in the retail automotive industry and has 3-4 years of Office Manager/ Assistant Controller experience, with a comprehensive knowledge of all functions in an accounting office.
The Assistant Controller will be managing the financial operations of the dealership, processing deals, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, implementing financial controls, and providing strategic recommendations to improve profitability. The Assistant Controller will work hand-in-hand with the dealership's General Manager and LAPIS's Corporate Controller.
This is an onsite Monday-Friday opportunity.
Responsibilities
:
- Oversee all financial operations of the dealership, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and inventory
- Working with the Controller, manage the preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures
- Develop and implement financial controls to drive efficiency
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly financial close and reporting processes
- Work closely with other departments to ensure operational and financial goals are aligned
- Manage and safeguard the stores assets and ensure that internal controls are in place
- Develop and maintain an effective cash management system
- Assist with other ad-hoc projects at the direction of the Corporate Controller
- Complete statistical data memo forms for manufacture financial statements
- Provide support in payroll processing
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an automotive accounting office
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in dealership accounting software (CDK)
- Vehicle title work experience is strongly desired
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work additional hours as needed mid-month and month-end to complete payroll and month-end close
- Able to work full-time on-site at the dealership
