Benefits Manager

Leave of Absence Specialist

A leading professional services organisation with multiple U.S. offices is hiring a Benefits Manager with
deep, hands-on Leave of Absence (LOA) expertise
. This is a high-impact role supporting employees across the full LOA lifecycle, alongside broader benefits administration and regional wellbeing coordination.

If you've managed complex LOA cases at scale, balancing compliance, employee experience, documentation and stakeholder management - this role will place that expertise front and centre.

The role (what you'll be doing)

Leave of Absence management (core focus)

You'll be the
primary point of contact
for LOA matters, owning end-to-end case management across:

  • FMLA
  • Parental leave
  • Short-term disability (STD)
  • Long-term disability (LTD)
  • Personal leave
    and related absence scenarios

Key activities include:

  • Guiding employees through the LOA process: eligibility, documentation, timelines, and expectations
  • Coordinating
    return-to-work
    planning and communication
  • Partnering with HR and business leaders to support
    coverage planning
    and smooth transitions
  • Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring alignment with policies and applicable laws (including
    FMLA and ADA
    )

Benefits administration

Alongside LOA, you'll support the day-to-day running of U.S. benefits programs, including:

  • Health, dental, vision, life, disability and other welfare plans
  • Vendor relationship management and operational processing (enrolments, life events, changes, claims queries)
  • Annual
    open enrolment
    planning, communications and system updates
  • Employee support on eligibility, coverage and claims resolution

Wellbeing coordination (Americas liaison)

You'll contribute to wellbeing initiatives across the Americas by:

  • Supporting roll-out of regional wellbeing programmes
  • Collaborating with global wellbeing stakeholders to align initiatives across regions
  • Sharing feedback and trends to improve programme relevance and effectiveness

Compliance & governance

  • Ensure LOA and benefits practices align with relevant federal and state requirements (e.g.,
    FMLA, HIPAA, COBRA, ADA
    )
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation (policies, guides, FAQs)
  • Support audits and reporting needs relating to benefits and leave programmes

Collaboration & leadership

  • Work closely with HR and business team partners to keep processes accurate and compliant
  • Escalate complex or sensitive cases appropriately
  • Provide guidance/training to benefits/LOA support resources as required

Extensive LOA experience is essential

You should bring
significant, practical LOA case management experience
, including:

  • Managing multiple LOA cases concurrently with high attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of
    FMLA
    and
    ADA/disability accommodations
  • Confidence navigating sensitive employee situations with discretion and professionalism
  • Comfort partnering with HRBPs and business leaders to drive outcomes

Additional experience that will help you succeed

  • Strong working knowledge of benefits administration and vendor management
  • Familiarity with
    HIPAA, COBRA
    , and related compliance requirements
  • Analytical mindset and operational discipline (records, process, deadlines)
  • Excellent communication skills and a solutions-focused approach
  • Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment with shifting demands
  • Prior experience in professional services (e.g., legal, consulting, finance) is advantageous but not essential

Experience & education

  • 7+ years
in benefits administration (or closely related HR operations)
  • 2+ years
with a dedicated focus on LOA management preferred (more is welcome)
  • Bachelor's degree (HR, Business, or related) preferred

Why apply?

This is a chance to step into a role where
LOA expertise is the main event
, not a side responsibility working with senior stakeholders, influencing process quality, and supporting employees through critical moments with care and precision.
