Description of Work Unit

The Department of Construction Management serves one of the largest construction management programs in the country with approximately 800 undergraduate students, graduate students, 21 faculty and 7 professional staff. The Department offers both a bachelors and master's degrees in construction management. The Department works in collaboration with both the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and School of Education to offer interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs with construction management focus areas for students with diverse backgrounds and research interests. The undergraduate program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education. Academic advising, and internship and career placement support is provided by professional staff. The department engages in teaching, scholarly, and outreach activities to promote the development of knowledge and skills related to construction management. The Department's facilities include over 36,000 square feet in dedicated labs (physical testing and computer), classrooms, and offices to support its research, teaching, and service mission. Position Summary

In addition to compliance with safety, operational, regulatory compliance, and ethics training and procedures associated with the NASEM, FHWA, and CSU, the following is a list of key responsibilities for the post-doctoral fellow position:

  • Analyze and manage complex data sets that include quantitative and qualitative data
  • Assist with scheduling data collection meetings and vetting workshops with relevant subject matter experts
  • Develop and test hypotheses based on previous and current research studies
  • Prepare reports for project deliverables
  • Prepare and submit manuscripts to scholarly journals
  • Attend meetings with principal investigator, funding agencies, and regional/national conferences as appropriate

Required Job Qualifications

  • Earned a PhD in a construction-related field at the time of starting the post-doctoral appointment
  • Relevant research in workforce development and construction technologies
  • Prior experience with statistical analyses of quantitative data
  • Prior experience with content and thematical analyses of qualitative data

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Publications of peer-reviewed manuscripts in reputable scholarly journals
  • Enthusiasm to work in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment
  • Prior experience working with a team of researchers and subject matter experts
