Class 3 Residential Collection Driver

GFL Environmental is looking for a Class 3 Residential Driver to join our Residential Collection team in Edmonton, AB

This is an extremely labor intensive role , requiring significant physical endurance and strength. As a Residential Driver , you will be servicing over 1,000 residential homes per day , lifting and loading waste carts and materials by hand into the collection truck. The ideal candidate must be prepared for a highly demanding work environment that requires repetitive heavy lifting, extensive walking, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Requirements:

• Valid Class 3Q (airbrake) or higher operator's license, with a clean 5-year commercial driver's abstract

• Exceptional physical stamina – must be able to repeatedly lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 lbs throughout the shift

• Comfortable with early morning starts and long workdays

• Must be able to safely drive the truck and operate manual side load equipment

• Must meet the safety-sensitive function criteria as established by company standards

Responsibilities:

• Manually load solid waste, yard waste, and/or recyclables into the truck hopper all day

• Operate a manual side-load residential waste truck, including hydraulic hopper compaction controls

• Walk and lift continuously throughout the shift, servicing over 1,000 homes daily

• Identify and tag prohibited waste items, removing them as needed

• Ensure all required personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times

• Perform comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete daily documentation

• Communicate any mechanical issues to maintenance personnel

• Follow all safety standards and regulations

• Assist with overflow routes, shop and yard tasks, and additional duties as assigned
