GRANITE SCHOOL DISTRICT – ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR II - STUDENT ASSESSMENT DESCRIPTION

Job Summary

Provide leadership, coordination, and management of the Granite School District's assessment systems. Major responsibilities include contracting and collaborating with providers such as external assessment coordinators, commercial assessment providers, and with the Utah Board of Education. Also, the position works with school and district office leadership to execute the measurement of student achievement in a variety of ways. Finally, this position works as part of a research and development team to determine best practices and provide professional learning as appropriate.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee assessment implementation in collaboration with Granite school principals, school technology specialists, and other district office departments
  • Plan and conduct testing cycles with a focus on supporting classroom teachers and students
  • Work to provide data to end-users such as directors, principals, and teachers through dashboards, reports, and presentations
  • Form valid and reliable calculations of student academic growth from a variety of assessments
  • Provide professional learning in the use of assessments, tools, and measures
  • Coordinate research projects that evaluate the use of instructional practices and interventions
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested or required

Non-Essential Functions - Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods, evaluation, and analytics preferred
  • Experience with Excel (data analysis tools feature), Access, and Power BI preferred
  • Experience providing professional learning in an educational setting preferred
  • Experience executing complex logistical events preferred
  • Understanding of Granite School District student assessment practices, platforms, and student data privacy policy
  • Understanding of continuous improvement processes and practical applications in a preK-12 organization
  • Understanding of adult learning theory and effective professional learning practices
  • Understanding of the components and practices in the Graduate of Granite Strategic Plan
  • Understanding of Grading Utah Schools performance measures
  • Working knowledge of Granite School District policies, rules, and procedures
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate well with staff and constituents of all levels, including classified and certified staff through verbal, written, and interpersonal means

Required Education, Training and Qualifications

  • Current Utah Administrative/supervisory license (required)
  • Internal Applicants Preferred

Required Prior Experience

  • Successful experience as a school administrator (required)
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional/licensed experience in education (required)
  • Internal Applicants Preferred

Non-Supervisory Interaction

  • Interacts and collaborates with employees, board members, patrons, vendors, administrators and secretaries in schools.
  • Works with various department secretaries, coordinators, managers and directors.
  • Works positively and collaboratively with District departments including administrators and secretaries.
  • Works with employees for certifications of time worked.
  • Interacts with community partners to implement programming and secure donations for program student incentives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people.
  • Able to create and support a team-based environment within the program and department.

Working Environment

  • Work takes place in a typical school environment.
  • Supervision of students requires both indoor and outdoor responsibilities (e.g. recess duty, gymnasium activities, etc.) in all types of weather and air quality.
  • Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
