Controller – South Florida (Confidential Search)

Steadfast Executive Search is representing a confidential, PE backed organization in the project-based services sector that is seeking a hands-on Controller to support a growing South Florida operation.

This individual will lead a well-established accounting function and partner closely with local operations leaders and senior finance leadership to enhance financial accuracy, strengthen internal processes, and support continued expansion in a high-growth market.

The ideal candidate brings strong controllership experience, team leadership, and comfort operating in environments where project work, service operations, and evolving systems are central to the business model.

• Full-time, on-site leadership position supporting a growing South Florida operation

• Leads a multi-functional accounting team (AR, AP, payroll, project accounting, general accounting)

• Project-driven environment requiring experience with WIP, job cost analysis, and revenue recognition principles

• Multi-system environment with an enterprise-level ERP upgrade planned

• Four-day close cadence supported by established internal processes

• Compensation range is slated for $150,000 to $170,000 plus bonus.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting operations, including month-end close and reconciliations

• Oversee project accounting functions, including WIP schedules, job cost reporting, and revenue recognition

• Develop, mentor, and support the accounting team across multiple functions

• Partner with operations, service, and sales leadership to provide financial insights and support decision-making

• Support senior finance leadership with reporting, forecasting, and financial analysis

• Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP

• Contribute to process improvements and support upcoming systems transitions

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required

• CPA or MBA preferred

• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting leadership, ideally at the controller or assistant controller level

• Experience in project-based, field service, installation, or construction-related industries

• Deep understanding of WIP, job costing, and percent-of-completion accounting

• Strong ERP and Excel capabilities
