To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Minimum Qualifications

· 2 year degree in CNC machining, or 3 years relevant experience

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, work orders, and work instructions

· Strong math skills, including fractions, decimals, and metric conversions

· Knowledge of metal cutting and machining practices

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Ability to read drawing and work instructions to determine machining operations, dimensional specifications, set up, and first article inspection process

· Ability to use measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauge, etc.)

· Ability to mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work-pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments

· Ability to calculate machine speed and feed ratios, and the size and position of cuts

-Ability to work independently

Essential Functions

· Set up and touch off tooling, load programs, and set machine parameters, such as cutting depth, speed, feed and coolant flow

· Make offsets and adjustments as required to compensate for tool wear or tool changes

· Perform inspections of parts. Check height, depth, and thickness using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and other precision-measuring instruments

· Produce the first piece of a product in a run, inspect the piece by using standard measuring tools and then finish the production run maintaining quality standards throughout the run

· Read drawings and work orders/instructions

· Use a CNC controller to input information into machine

· Work with tight tolerances

· Cut jaws

· Monitor and evaluate machine operation; troubleshoot production problems and their causes and take appropriate corrective action

· Report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to the supervisor

· Maintain necessary records and workflow processes

Visual acuity required for reading machine controls, written material, and drawings, and to inspect parts to ensure they meet specifications. Hearing ability sufficient to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.

Work Environment

Environment is a sheet metal fabrication shop. Worker will be subject to high noise levels and exposed to heavy machinery. Worker may be exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles. Sheet metal can cause cuts and lacerations. Metal is highly conductive of thermal energy. Burns are possible when metal is exposed to open flames or a heat source. Inhaling sheet metal dust can increase the chances of respiratory illness. Exposure to oil and grease is possible. Machinery such as turrets, lasers, press brakes, shears, saws, and mills can cause bodily harm in the event of improper operation or malfunction.
