Position Overview
Lanteris Space Systems is seeking a motivated Quality Engineering Intern to pioneer the integration of our new Claude AI system with legacy quality data systems. This role will focus on bridging modern AI capabilities with existing manufacturing data infrastructure to unlock continuous improvement opportunities across our spacecraft manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have experience applying cutting-edge AI tools to our data systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead AI integration efforts: Design and implement strategies to connect Claude with multiple legacy quality data systems
- Develop prompts, workflows, and integration approaches that enable Claude to analyze data from PLM/MES/QMS/ERP/MRP systems
- Apply AI-assisted analysis to multiple nonconformance reports (NCRs) to identify patterns and improvement opportunities
- Leverage Claude for automated Pareto analysis, trend identification, and root cause analysis across disparate datasets
- Create AI-powered solutions to synthesize information from disconnected data sources
- Develop and document best practices for using Claude 4.5 in quality engineering workflows
- Support Control Plan development using AI-assisted data analysis
- Collaborate with IT and Quality teams to overcome data format and accessibility challenges
- Train quality team members on effective AI tool utilization
Required Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Quality Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science or related discipline with completion of two years or more, or currently enrolled in a master's degree program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience applying AI/LLM tools (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) to real-world data analysis problems
- Foundation in statistical analysis and quality engineering principles
- Understanding of Pareto analysis, control charts, and statistical process control (SPC)
- Experience with data wrangling, ETL processes, and data integration challenges
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, or similar languages for data manipulation and API integration
- Understanding of prompt engineering and AI workflow design
- Direct experience with Claude AI (Anthropic) or similar large language models
- Experience building data pipelines or integrations between modern and legacy systems
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt or higher) or coursework
- Familiarity with API integration and automation tools
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Python libraries)
- Exposure to manufacturing or aerospace environments
- Understanding of quality management systems (AS9100, ISO 9001)
- Experience documenting AI use cases and building reproducible AI workflows
- Passion for the space industry and spacecraft manufacturing
Key Projects May Include
- Developing Claude-based analysis pipelines for NCR trend analysis
- Creating AI-assisted dashboards that synthesize data from multiple legacy systems
- Building prompt libraries and workflows for quality engineering use cases
- Documenting ROI and effectiveness of AI integration initiatives
- Prototyping solutions for automated quality data insights
The base pay for this position within California is: $ $31.00 hourly
The salary range listed is based on two years or more of completed studies. This range will vary based on the number of years of experience and work location.
