Full-Time | In-Office | St. George, UT (City of Hurricane)
Salary: $60,000–$90,000/yr DOE
Desert Rat Welding is a growing structural, architectural, and miscellaneous steel fabrication company focused on disciplined processes, accuracy, and consistent high-quality work. We are looking for a highly detail-oriented Estimator who can adopt our existing systems, work through takeoff software (Beam AI & STACK), and reliably produce accurate bids for commercial and residential projects.
This position is ideal for someone who is organized, analytical, and loves working with numbers, spreadsheets, and structured workflows. If you have experience in steel estimating or estimating in another construction trade — and you enjoy learning new technology and following processes — you may be a great fit.
What You'll Do:
- Read and interpret structural & architectural plans and addenda
- Review Specs and maintain organized information logs for items such as finish specifications (galv, primer, powder coating, etc.)
- Send RFIs during estimating to clarify scope or resolve discrepancies
- Manage and perform accurate takeoffs for structural and miscellaneous steel using Beam AI (an AI generated take off software), STACK, and Bluebeam
- Double-check all AI-generated takeoffs for accuracy
- Build organized, formula-driven bid sheets in Google Sheets
- Prepare and submit complete bids, including filling out GC bid forms
- Maintain organized digital folders, naming conventions, and bid deadline schedules
- Coordinate with internal finance/operations to ensure accurate job costing
- Deliver 3–5 thorough, well-checked bids per week

Required Experience:
- Estimating experience in steel or other construction trades
- Must be able to read structural and architectural plans and spec sheets
- Experience with take off and estimating software
- Google Sheets proficiency required (comfortable with formulas)
Work Environment
- In-office only — Monday–Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
- Occasional early/late hours for deadlines
- Occasional job site walk-throughs
Compensation
- Salary: $60,000–$90,000/yr DOE
- Semi-annual performance bonuses based on accuracy, consistency, system discipline, organization, and communication
- Benefits: PTO
