Job Title: Corporate Accountant

Reports to: Director of Finance, Financial Reporting & Accounting Division: Finance
Location: Long Island City, NY

The Accountant is responsible for working alongside the Director of Finance and other individuals from the finance department to ensure all financial accounting and reporting is completed in a time-sensitive manner and to facilitate decision-making in a timely manner. Candidate will play an instrumental role in all monthly financial closings, audits, statutory filings and ad-hoc projects. This individual will be detailed, organized and able to problem solve with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to booking journal entries, Balance Sheet reconciliations and providing analysis to understand trends on P&L.
  • Assist with statutory filings to various states.
  • Collaborate with various departments to solve discrepancies & to complete tasks assigned.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to the general ledger.
  • Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy, completeness and discrepancies.
  • Ensure all financial closing and reporting deadlines that have been assigned are met and assist with all audits.
  • Back-up month-end duties assigned to other Accountants.
  • Must be comfortable working with large data in MS Excel and have experience creating pivot tables and v-lookup.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and streamlining

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in retail environment and public accounting.
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Great Plains and Microsoft Dynamics 365, a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail & accuracy
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Proficient in computer applications – specifically with MS Excel
  • Work requires willingness to work flexible schedule

SALARY RANGE: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per yearcommensurate upon experience.
