We are hiring an experienced Forklift Operator for our Portland, Oregon distribution center. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating forklifts to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. Your work directly impacts our logistics efficiency and inventory accuracy. This position requires a skilled operator with a strong understanding of warehouse operations, safety protocols, and material handling. You will work in a dynamic environment where precision and speed are essential. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach truck) safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload trucks and trailers with incoming and outgoing freight.
- Move materials to and from production, storage, and shipping areas.
- Stack and arrange materials in designated locations, ensuring stability and safety.
- Conduct daily inspections of forklift equipment and report any issues or defects.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and stock verification.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Adhere to all regulations concerning the handling and storage of materials.
- Collaborate with warehouse team to ensure smooth logistics operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification.
- Proven experience operating various types of forklifts.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and material handling.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Safety is our top priority. All forklift operators must demonstrate proficiency in safe operation, adherence to traffic rules within the warehouse, and the consistent use of required PPE. Understanding of proper lifting techniques for safe material movement is also essential.
