About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Surgical Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in surgical coordination, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
- Counsel patients with respect to diagnostic tests and cataract lens options
- Scheduling surgical procedures and coordinating with patients, surgeons, and other medical staff at two different sites
- Manage surgical wait lists
- Collecting and verifying patient information and medical history
- Ensuring all necessary paperwork and documentation is completed accurately
- Providing pre-operative instructions to patients and addressing any concerns or questions they may have
- Assisting with post-operative follow-up appointments and providing necessary information to patients
- Prepare paperwork including consents, surgical calculations, lens orders, surgical supplies and instructions for patients
- Answer the cataract surgery emails and telephone inquiries
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 to 3 years experience working in the medical field. Priority will be given to those with a background working in an ophthalmology office or with certification as an ophthalmic technician
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures related to surgical coordination
- Proficiency in using computer systems for scheduling and data entry
