Job Description:

The Millwright plays role in supporting manufacturing excellence by ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of production machinery and mechanical systems. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment to maximize uptime, support continuous improvement efforts, and sustain high-performance manufacturing operations. The Millwright upholds the highest standards of craftsmanship, safety, precision, and operational discipline while contributing directly to production efficiency and equipment integrity.

Essential Job Functions:

The Millwright installs, inspects, adjusts, and repairs industrial machinery to support safe and efficient production operations. This role diagnoses mechanical failures, performs corrective maintenance to minimize downtime, and interprets technical drawings and documentation to execute work accurately. The Millwright fabricates and repairs parts using machine tools, aligns and calibrates equipment for reliable performance, verifies proper function of all safety devices following repairs or modifications, and performs minor tooling and mechanical adjustments. The position maintains a clean and organized work area, strictly follows all safety and Lockout/Tagout procedures, documents maintenance activities, and collaborates with production teams to support changeovers, emergency repairs, and continuous improvement.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Read, interpret, and apply diagrams, blueprints, and schematic drawings to determine accurate work procedures and equipment layout.
  • Install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Inspect, test, and examine machinery and equipment to identify wear, irregularities, and mechanical malfunctions.
  • Operate machine tools to fabricate, modify, and repair parts required during machine overhaul, maintenance, and setup activities.
  • Verify proper function of all operating safety devices, guards, and interlocks upon completion of repairs, modifications, and installations.
  • Align, calibrate, and balance machinery and equipment components to ensure efficient, reliable, and safe operation.
  • Sharpen, maintain, and properly store machine tools and precision equipment.
  • Comply with all workplace safety policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and ISO standards at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and environmentally compliant work environment in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Perform minor tooling, machine, and equipment adjustments to support uninterrupted production.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management to support business and operational needs.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Valid Millwright licence required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant industrial maintenance or Millwright experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of industrial equipment and safety standards.
  • Proficiency in MIG and Stick welding.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting production deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a diverse, team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Reliable, flexible, and adaptable to changing business and production needs.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical demands of the role.
  • Compliance with applicable Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulations, and Company policies.
  • Ability to work in rotating shifts, overtime, or weekends, if required.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments with noise, heat, dust, and moving equipment.

Physical Demands:

Must possess mobility to work in a standard warehouse setting and work with and around a variety of equipment, parts, and inventory, to operate a motor vehicle and forklift; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium physical work; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The job involves walking and working on slippery surfaces. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with the proper equipment. All employees must wear company approved safety glasses while in the plant and distribution areas.

Environmental Elements:

Employees primarily work in the warehouse and are exposed to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles. May be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, mechanical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Employees may interact with staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
