We're partnered with a fast-growing London-based startup who are looking for a
Mid-Level Backend Engineer
to help scale a high-traffic platform at pace. This role is ideal for a Node.js developer who wants real ownership, rapid delivery, and the chance to grow quickly in a startup environment.
They've recently onboarded new clients and with huge growth plans for 2026, this is a great opportunity to join a fast growing business!
You'll work across a wide range of backend projects - building new platform features, developing third‑party integrations, and creating APIs that power customer‑facing applications. As part of a small, collaborative team, you'll make meaningful contributions from day one, own significant areas of the product, and see your work shipped quickly.
What You'll Be Doing
Build and maintain backend services and APIs using
Node.js
Develop new features across internal tools and customer‑ futuras products
Design and implement integrations with third‑party and partner systems
Write clean, well‑tested, maintainable code
Design database schemas, optimise queries, and ensure data integrity
Collaborate closely with frontend engineers and other stakeholders
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with a focus on reliability
Contribute ideas to improve systems, architecture, and processes
What We’re Looking For
3-5 years of professional backend engineering experience
Strong több experience with Node.js and TypeScript
Proven experience building RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL
Solid knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
Experience writing unit and integration tests
Comfortable working with Git and collaborative workflows
Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
Ownership mindset - able to take projects from idea to production
Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, sometimes ambiguous environment
