POSITION SUMMARY: The Processing Technician ensures safe, effective treatment and handling of containerized wastes by properly receiving, screening, unloading, treating and tracking incoming waste streams and outgoing residuals.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews, signs, and processes incoming manifests, noting any discrepancies.
- Directs off-loading operations for receipt of primarily non bulk containers into the facility's storage systems for process and handling.
- Uses handheld bar code scanner as the primary internal recordkeeping system to ensure the safe, effective handling and inventory of containerized wastes.
- Forklift operations to facilitate the handling of all non-bulk containerized wastes.
- Collects and analyzes waste samples.
- Consolidates like-wastes wherever possible in order to improve economic outcomes.
- Store waste containers properly in all designated plant storage areas.
- Assists in the generation of internal bar code labels, and accurately places them on all containers as they are received.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to use light equipment, such as forklift and pallet-jack.
- Basic knowledge of computer operations is needed to properly operate handheld scanners.
- Skilled using hand and shop tools.
- Demonstrates, accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
- Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
Pay Range:
The pay range for this position is $20.80 to $28.60* which reflects the minimum wage in multiple jurisdictions. The actual range will depend on the locality in which you are hired.*
