We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. In this vital role, you will assist residents in their daily activities, promote independence, and foster a positive, respectful environment. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices.
- Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary needs and preferences, ensuring proper food safety and cleanliness standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks, laundry, and sanitation of common areas and resident rooms.
- Support residents during community outings or activities to promote social engagement and independence.
- Follow established care plans, document observations accurately, and participate in team meetings to coordinate personalized care strategies.
Skills
- Proven experience working with people with developmental disabilities or in assisted living environments.
- Knowledge of first aid, CPR, and hospice or dementia care techniques to respond effectively in emergencies.
- Ability to perform patient observation, monitor vital signs, and recognize signs of health deterioration or distress.
- Experience with medication administration, care planning, and documentation compliant with HIPAA standards.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members, residents, families, and healthcare providers.
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting, assisting with mobility tasks, and supporting residents during daily activities.
- Familiarity with home & community care practices such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, and home health services.
