Position Summary
The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for field leadership and coordination of mechanical installation crews within the HVAC Division. This position supervises the daily activities of Mechanical Installers (Levels 1–4) to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards.
The Foreman acts as the on-site lead for duct installation, unit setting, and equipment connections, and serves as the primary communication link between the field crew and the HVAC Superintendent. The Mechanical Foreman is accountable for crew productivity, safety, material control, and workmanship on assigned projects.
This role applies across all HVAC projects and follows standardized B&M field management systems, safety procedures, and documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
Crew Leadership & Planning
- Lead and coordinate daily work activities for assigned Mechanical Installer crews.
- Review plans, specifications, and shop drawings to understand work scope and installation details.
- Communicate clear production goals and expectations to all crew members.
- Conduct daily safety and coordination meetings prior to work start.
- Ensure work is sequenced efficiently and completed on schedule.
Field Installation Oversight
- Supervise the installation of duct systems, HVAC units, supports, and accessories.
- Verify correct alignment, sealing, and support of ductwork per SMACNA and Title 24 standards.
- Direct crew on layout, field measurements, and modifications for non-standard conditions.
- Coordinate with other trades and the Superintendent to prevent scope conflicts.
- Ensure equipment, materials, and tools are available and in working order each day.
Quality & Safety
- Monitor installation quality to ensure compliance with company and project standards.
- Perform spot checks and correct deficiencies immediately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite at all times.
- Enforce compliance with all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Report incidents or near-misses promptly to the Superintendent and Safety Manager.
Material & Equipment Management
- Coordinate material deliveries, verify quantities, and manage on-site storage.
- Track material usage and forecast upcoming needs to prevent shortages.
- Coordinate with suppliers, fabrication shops, and the office as needed for timely deliveries.
- Manage jobsite tools and equipment; ensure proper care, maintenance, and accountability.
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain daily crew reports noting manpower, work performed, materials used, and jobsite conditions.
- Submit Daily Extra Work Reports (DEWRs) and delivery tickets as required.
- Communicate field issues, plan conflicts, and RFI needs promptly to the Superintendent.
- Participate in coordination meetings and support field scheduling and updates.
Training & Mentorship
- Train and develop Mechanical Installer 1–4 personnel on best practices, safety, and quality standards.
- Foster a team culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
- Provide feedback to the Superintendent regarding crew performance and skill development needs.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of HVAC field experience, including at least 2 years in a crew leadership or foreman role.
- Proficient in reading mechanical plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Strong understanding of duct installation, layout, and mechanical system assembly.
- Familiarity with SMACNA standards, Title 24 requirements, and mechanical code compliance.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate field crews while maintaining safety and quality.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
- Ability to lift 75 lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Ability to stand, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Exposure to outdoor weather and construction environments.
- Must be available for early morning starts and occasional overtime.

Position Levels
The Mechanical Foreman role is a single-level leadership position within the HVAC field structure. It provides direct supervision to Mechanical Installer Levels 1–4 and reports directly to the HVAC Superintendent 3.

Pay: $ $60.00 per hour
