Job Summary:Under the supervision of the Quality Manager, the Quality Technician will be responsible for incoming materials and finished products inspection and release, processing returned materials, documentation review, process performance, data records and reports, and continual improvement of the quality system.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read and comprehend technical documents and relate technical requirements to physical hardware,
- Communicate Quality issues to Team members in clear, constructive manner,
- Conduct product, part, and material incoming inspections,
- Conduct in-process inspections and work in a fast paced environment,
- Conduct First Article Inspection Reports,
- Select the appropriate measuring tools and techniques to differentiate between accuracy and precision,
- Prepare Material Review Board (MRB) reports,
- Enter, scan, and file manufacturing records,
- Identify/recognize inspection errors and initiate corrective action,
- Read and interpret blueprints and know definitions of critical, major and minor characteristics,
- Use inspection planning tools and perform a product audit; determine sample size for lots; pull random samples,
- Assist with training and instruction for operators on Quality Assurance (QA) and manufacturing procedures,
- Assist Quality Manager with internal audits on QA and manufacturing procedures,
- Identify and report nonconforming material.
Pre-requisite Knowledge, Skills and Education:
- J-STD-001 and/or IPC-A-610 certifications preferred,
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5M, of GD&T, and must understand the x, y, z coordinate system,
- Knowledge of basic quality terms, definitions, concepts, and PDCA,
- Knowledge of basic statistical terms and techniques, how to plot data and how to recognize out-of-control conditions,
- Excellent team player,
- Understand types of measurement, measurement terminology and the different types of measurement scales,
- Knowledge of various testing methods and basic calibration,
- Basic computer skills and proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Access,
- Excellent organizational skills,
- Good written and verbal communication skills,
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills,
- Excellent attention to detail,
- Understanding of traceability (product, material, and calibration),
- Strong knowledge of basic mathematical operations and perform measurement conversions; be able to solve for x; add and subtract degrees, minutes, and seconds.
- High School diploma required, Associates Degree (preferred),
- Minimum of 2-5 years of quality inspection and/or production experience,
- Experience in a Manufacturing environment,
- Experience with ISO9001, AS9100, AS9102 Quality Management Systems and standards,
- Experience with 5S system,
- Experience using inspection hand tools and equipment.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Standing and sitting for extended periods of time,
- Lifting up to 25 pounds in a safe and prudent manner,
- Ability to work and communicate well with other employees and management,
- Ability to perform work utilizing manual dexterity of the hands,
- Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, reach above and below shoulders, and full use of upper extremities,
- Ability to easily move through an approximately 25,000 square foot warehouse building,
- Ability to read, write, and understand English,
- Correctable vision and hearing.
