Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shipping Clerk to join our warehouse team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately preparing and processing all outbound shipments to support smooth warehouse and production operations. This role picks, stages, and packages orders, prepares shipping documents, coordinates with drivers and carriers, and updates shipment information in the system. The Shipping Clerk helps ensure orders leave on time, with correct quantities and paperwork, while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized shipping area.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Review daily shipping schedule, pick lists, and work orders to plan shipments.
  • Pick, stage, and verify outgoing orders for accuracy (correct parts, quantities, and labels).
  • Package and secure materials using appropriate packing, wrapping, and strapping methods.
  • Create and print shipping documents (packing slips, labels, Bills of Lading).
  • Enter and update shipment information in the ERP/shipping system.
  • Load trucks, trailers, and company vehicles safely using forklifts or pallet jacks.
  • Communicate shipping status, delays, or issues to supervisors and other departments.
  • Report and help resolve shipping discrepancies, damages, or shortages.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping dock and staging area.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail with counts, labels, and paperwork.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, pick tickets, and shipping documents.
  • Basic computer skills; able to learn and use ERP/shipping software.
  • Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and verifying quantities.
  • Good communication skills for working with drivers, carriers, and internal teams.
  • Ability to organize work, manage time, and handle changing priorities.
  • Able to safely operate forklifts and material-handling equipment.
  • Physically able to stand, walk, bend, and lift/push/pull materials as required.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or related role preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Additional Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds at times.
