Position Overview
Beginning in 2026, Asia Society Texas will launch an
AAPI Fellowship Program
designed to build a cohort of K–12 educators who are both knowledgeable about Asian American history and passionate about sharing these learnings with students.
The Project Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of the Fellowship, from recruiting educators to coordinating six professional development sessions. The program culminates with fellows creating original lesson guides that will be published in AST's Educator Portal for open access. Participating educators will receive CEUs and a stipend.
Ideally, the Project Manager will bring established relationships with educators and schools, particularly within priority districts such as Alief, Katy, Fort Bend, and HISD. A strong understanding of K–12 curriculum and an enthusiasm for global education are highly valued.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning:
Develop comprehensive plans for six professional development sessions, including timelines, objectives, deliverables, educator recruitment, scholar engagement, logistics, and communication. - Stakeholder Coordination:
Serve as the primary contact for scholars, educators, and the Director of Education and Outreach, ensuring alignment on goals and schedules. - Team Building & Leadership:
Recruit and onboard AAPI fellows, define roles and responsibilities, and foster collaboration to ensure a cohesive cohort. - Session Execution:
Manage logistics for each session — scheduling, venue/technology setup, materials, and attendee communication — while addressing issues as they arise. - Monitoring & Adjustments:
Track progress toward session and program goals, making schedule or resource adjustments to stay on target. - Evaluation:
Gather feedback from educators and scholars, assess program effectiveness, and prepare final reports to support accountability and future improvement. - Other Duties:
Contribute to a collaborative team environment, with additional responsibilities assigned as needed to support the department's overall goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in in education, public policy, international studies, or a related field (Master's or Ph.D. degree preferred)
- Experience with organizing or facilitating educator training sessions, seminars, or workshops, preferably with cultural or global content.
- Excellent project management skills (planning, organizing, scheduling)
- Familiarity with curriculum design, instructional methods, and professional learning best practices
- 1–3 years of experience working with schools or school districts, ideally in program management or curriculum development
- Passion for global education, diversity, equity, inclusion, and cross-cultural engagement, especially related to Asia
- Proficiency in technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration (e.g., Zoom, Google Suite, project management software)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public presentation and report writing
- Experience cultivating relationships with educators, school leaders, or scholars (preferably with an existing network among Asian and Asian American scholar communities
