Position Summary
The Greeley Stampede Volunteer Coordinator leads our vibrant volunteer program, managing recruitment, retention, and recognition for over 300 dedicated Wrangler volunteers. This role is essential to ensuring our volunteers feel valued, supported, and empowered throughout the year.
You will work closely with the Committee, Staff, and Volunteer Committee to plan, coordinate, and oversee all volunteer activities—including administering our new online background check program.
The ideal candidate is experienced in volunteer management, actively engaged in the Greeley community, and familiar with the Stampede's traditions. This person will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, can manage multiple priorities, and enjoy working with people from all walks of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Volunteer Committee, guiding the overall program direction.
- Collaborate with the Committee and staff to identify volunteer needs and provide support.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records using Volgistics volunteer management software.
- Develop and implement year-round volunteer recruitment strategies and community outreach initiatives.
- Administer the online volunteer background check program, ensuring compliance with legal and organizational standards.
- Plan and host volunteer recognition events to celebrate contributions and encourage retention.
- Organize volunteer events throughout the year, including monthly informational meetings, onboarding sessions, appreciation events, and the annual Christmas Party.
- Communicate regularly with volunteers via email, newsletters, and meetings, keeping them informed of schedules, deadlines, and placement opportunities.
- Participate in post-event evaluations and recommend program improvements.
- Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, schools, and businesses.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the CEO and leadership team.
- Represent the Greeley Stampede at community events, social gatherings, and presentations.

Qualifications
Required:
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extended event days as the majority of the outreach and networking events take place outside of the normal office hours.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking communication skills.
- Experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, or event management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Solid communication skills for presenting reports and collaborating with senior leadership
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
Preferred:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Experience with volunteer management and background check software programs.
- Experience with nonprofits, festivals, or large-scale events.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Combination of office-based, on-site work during the event and off-site networking throughout the year.
- Duties may involve standing, walking, and interacting with large crowds outdoors.
- Some lifting or moving of moderate weight (up to 50 lbs) may be required.
- Fast-paced, high-energy environment with exposure to weather, noise, and crowds.
- Hourly non-exempt position with flexible scheduling during peak times and events. Like almost all Greeley Stampede team members, this position will need to be on-site every day during Stampede, typically for 12-16 hours at a time.
- Projected for 1,740 regular hours and 90–100 overtime hours annually.
- Office hours: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m. (Nov–June); Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m. (July–Oct). Hours will increase as the event approaches.
Pay: $ $26.00 per hour
