Position : School Counselor(on-site)

Concord Preparatory School is seeking an accomplished and student-focused School Counselor to join its Student Support Services team. This individual will be responsible for advancing the intellectual, social-emotional, and personal development of students in grades 6–12, and for contributing to a comprehensive counseling program that upholds the highest standards of professional practice.

The successful candidate will exhibit deep expertise in adolescent development, a demonstrated history of effective school-based counseling, and a thorough command of the U.S. college admissions landscape. A steadfast commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality, and student advocacy is essential.

Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Support and Counseling

  • Deliver individual and small-group counseling services addressing academic difficulties, emotional needs, behavioral concerns, and peer relationships.
  • Design and execute school-wide initiatives that promote student wellness, resilience, social-emotional skill development, and a positive school culture.
  • Identify students requiring additional support and coordinate appropriate interventions in collaboration with faculty, administrators, and caregivers.
  • Maintain comprehensive, confidential, and compliant records aligned with professional and legal standards.

Academic Guidance

  • Advise students on academic planning, course selection, and strategies to support effective learning and study habits.
  • Monitor academic performance, identify areas requiring attention, and work closely with teachers to ensure consistent and coordinated support.
  • Provide structured guidance in developing executive-functioning skills, including organization, time management, and decision-making.

College and Post-Secondary Advising

  • Direct students through all aspects of the college planning and application process, offering individualized guidance on curriculum choices, standardized testing timelines, essays, and recommendation procedures.
  • Ensure students and families receive current, accurate information on U.S. college admissions practices, scholarships, and financial aid opportunities.
  • Lead informational sessions and workshops for students and parents on college readiness, application strategies, and postsecondary pathways.
  • Remain informed about evolving trends in higher education, selective admissions policies, and considerations for international applicants.

Collaboration and School Engagement

  • Partner with teachers, staff, and families to cultivate a supportive, equitable, and inclusive school climate.
  • Serve as a resource to faculty by providing insights on student well-being, classroom dynamics, and social-emotional learning practices.
  • Facilitate referrals to external mental health providers or community-based services when warranted.
  • Participate actively in school initiatives, committees, and ongoing professional development programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • State certification or licensure in school counseling is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of counseling experience within a U.S. educational setting, ideally in an independent school or college-preparatory environment.
  • Demonstrated mastery of U.S. college counseling processes, including the Common Application, UC admissions systems, standardized testing frameworks, and preparation of application-related documents.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70, $85,000.00 per year
