This position is responsible for inspecting finished stock and RUD products, performing Dura-Lite proof testing, completing inspection forms for inspected products and ensuring only product that conforms to print to specs reaches the customer.

Duties:

  • Performs the final inspection process for all product moving through the department
  • Completes an inspection sheet to document compliance or issues for each inspected job
  • Completes nonconformance reports (NCRs) when a product does not meet the traveler, print or customer specs
  • Oversees packaging of stock product, manuals, and certs to prepare materials for shipping
  • Addresses problems such as damage, shortages, and nonconformance issues with the appropriate internal person(s).
  • Performs duties identified in the Assembler 2 description, when needed
  • Performs OSHA complaint inspections of below-the-hook (BTH) and material handling products
  • Performs proof testing for Dura-Lite product built in the facility
  • Demonstrates the Caldwell Company Values in all work activities
  • Removes trash and debris throughout the day and maintains clear aisles. Report defective tools and equipment.
  • Complies with all safety rules and regulations

Experience:

  • High school diploma
  • ASQ certification as Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) a plus
  • Three years of experience in Quality Inspections in a manufacturing environment
  • One year troubleshooting and testing product failure experience
  • One year using a forklift and overhead crane

Skills:

  • Ability to assemble and troubleshoot all Caldwell stock/standard product lines
  • Ability to use hand measuring devices including calipers, angle finders, and squares
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints including welding, electrical and general symbols
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA safety requirements
  • Knowledge of ASME below-the-hook (BTH) standards
  • Computer proficiency sufficient to enter data into an automated system and create inspection documents.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk and use repetitive hand/wrist motion, occasionally required to twist/turn, stoop/bend, push/pull, squat, reach overhead and use forearm rotation. Employee must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Vision corrected to near 20/20 required.
