Under the general direction of a Projects Supervisor, the Projects Technician I performs skilled maintenance across various disciplines, including the construction, maintenance, and repair of buildings, equipment, and facilities. The Projects Technician I erects small structures, executing complex alterations, performing repairs on plumbing, electrical systems, and carpentry, as well as painting surfaces and operating power equipment.

This position requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of our 24/7 operations.

Requires availability for emergency call-in.

COMPENSATION: $22.82 / hr+ Based on Experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Participates in erecting structures and execute alterations as directed by the Projects Supervisor.
  • Performs repairs and maintenance on plumbing systems, including water lines and fixtures, ensuring functionality and compliance with standards.
  • Conducts repairs and adjustments on electrical systems, including basic wiring and equipment maintenance.
  • Executes carpentry work, including repairs to furniture, shelves, doors, and windows, to maintain facility aesthetics and functionality.
  • Paints both the interiors and exteriors of buildings to enhance appearance and protect surfaces from wear and tear.
  • Operates various power equipment, such as lathes, drill presses, threading machines, air compressors, and gas-operated saws, safely and effectively.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing tasks to ensure a safe working environment, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting potential hazards.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of the position.

REQUIRED FOR ALL HCAA JOBS

  • In the event of an emergency or disaster that impacts the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA), an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee's department or the HCAA Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Such assignments may be before, during, or after the emergency/disaster.
  • Complies with all HCAA Policies, Procedures, and Standards.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS)

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year experience as a skilled trades worker.
  • Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver License.

  • Knowledge of procedures and techniques utilized in various construction trades, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety regulations to ensure a safe work environment for all personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others within and outside the Authority.
  • Ability to handle restricted, sensitive, and confidential information.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service, serve the public, and represent the Authority with courtesy and professionalism.

  • Navigate very frequently heights & confined areas.
  • Continuous use of car/light truck.
