Position Summary

We are seeking a Quality Control Specialist responsible for ensuring compliance with FSMA, cGMP, and internal quality systems. This role performs routine in-process checks, ingredient verification, documentation review, and supports regulatory compliance.

Ideal for someone with hands-on QA/QC experience in feed, supplements, or related manufacturing.

Key ResponsibilitiesQuality & Compliance

  • Perform incoming ingredient inspections, lot verification, and COA review.
  • Conduct in-process quality checks (weights, blends, appearance, labeling, etc.).
  • Ensure production adheres to FDA 21 CFR 111/117 cGMPs and FSMA Preventive Controls.
  • Maintain and update quality logs, production records, and deviation reports.
  • Assist with hazard analysis, sanitation programs, and environmental monitoring.
  • Support internal audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Review Food Safety Plan, verify vendors and ingredients
  • Ensure compliance with NASC reporting, label guidelines and ingredient definitions.
  • Ensure products are labeled according to NASC guidelines
  • Perform quality audits

Manufacturing Support

  • Review batch records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Verify equipment cleanliness and line clearance before production.
  • Monitor blending, filling, and packaging processes for quality consistency.
  • Coordinate third-party lab testing and track results.

Documentation & Recordkeeping

  • Maintain SOPs, logbooks, quality forms, GPM manual and Food Safety Plan.
  • Ensure traceability for all materials and finished goods (lot coding, retention samples).
  • Report non-conformances and assist with corrective actions.

Qualifications Required

  • 1–3 years QC or QA experience in animal feed, supplements, nutraceuticals, or food manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of FSMA and cGMP requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to follow SOPs and communicate clearly with production staff.
  • Basic math and computer skills (Excel, Word, ERP familiarity a plus).

Preferred

  • Experience with equine or pet supplement manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of hazard analysis, traceability systems, and preventive controls.
  • Prior participation in FDA or state feed inspections.
  • PCQI training

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move between production areas for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 40 lbs occasionally to handle ingredients or samples.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment around powders, mixers, packaging lines.
