Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of patient care, medical procedures, and administrative support within various clinical settings. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and high-quality clinical support across outpatient, inpatient, and specialized care environments. Your expertise in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diverse clinical skills will contribute to delivering exceptional patient experiences and supporting healthcare providers effectively.
Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments across specialties such as dermatology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, and geriatrics.
- Take and record vital signs accurately; perform patient intake assessments to gather relevant health information.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently to document patient encounters, test results, and treatment plans with precision.
- Support medication administration under supervision and assist with basic life support protocols when necessary.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures including X-ray imaging or other outpatient testing as required within scope of practice.
- Coordinate patient scheduling, follow-up appointments, and medical administrative tasks to streamline clinic operations.
- Maintain compliance with hospital protocols, ICD coding standards for diagnoses, and ensure proper documentation for billing purposes.
- Support hospital medicine units or trauma centers with specialized skills such as Level I or Level II trauma experience when needed.
- Provide compassionate patient service by addressing questions, explaining treatment options, and ensuring a positive healthcare experience.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to diverse clinical settings.
- Proven experience working in dermatology clinics, hospital medicine units, urgent care centers, or outpatient clinics with exposure to emergency medicine environments.
- Strong proficiency in EHR systems for accurate documentation and data management.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as vital signs measurement, specimen collection, medication administration, and basic diagnostic procedures including X-ray imaging.
- Familiarity with ICD coding standards for diagnosis documentation and billing processes.
- Experience supporting inpatient units like the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or Geriatrics departments; OR experience in surgical or medical-surgical units is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of hospital experience requirements including Level I Trauma Center or Level II Trauma Center protocols.
- Excellent patient service skills combined with effective communication abilities to foster trust and clarity in patient interactions.
