The
Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker lII
is responsible for supervising the operations, maintenance, security and crash/fire activities for Kapalua Airport which has provisions for night flights and field capacity to accommodate several daily commercial flights. Serves as representative of the Airport District Manager in dealing with airlines, tenants, licenses, permittees, personnel and the general public.

To qualify, applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements:
Specialized Experience:
Four (4) years
of semi-skilled or skilled work experience in one or more building or mechanical trades.
Successful completion of coursework at an accredited technical school or community college in a building or mechanical trade may be substituted for this experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester credit hours for six (6) months of experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.
Supervisory Aptitude:
Applicants for the Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker III level
MUST
possess supervisory aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects of supervision, e.g., by serving as a group or team member leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; or by the completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; and/or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Clearance - Federal Criminal History Records Check:
In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the SIDA clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within ten years from the date of the application. Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding ten years.
