Assistant general manager

Position Overview

El Valle De La Sultana Market is seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant General Manager (AGM) to support daily operations across our grocery store locations. The AGM works closely with the General Manager to ensure smooth store operations, strong customer service, employee supervision, and compliance with company policies.

Key ResponsibilitiesStore Operations

• Support the General Manager in overseeing daily store operations
• Ensure store standards for cleanliness, safety, and merchandising are met
• Assist with opening and closing procedures and manager-on-duty coverage

Team Leadership

• Supervise employees during shifts and provide guidance as needed
• Assist with scheduling, training, and onboarding of new staff
• Help address employee issues, performance concerns, and attendance

Customer Service

• Ensure a positive customer experience and handle customer concerns or complaints
• Support front-end operations and customer flow during peak hours

Inventory & Merchandising

• Assist with inventory control, stocking, and product rotation
• Support ordering and vendor deliveries as needed

Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and labor policies
• Assist with incident reports, shift reports, and daily operational reporting

Qualifications

• 3+ years of retail or grocery management experience preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• Basic computer and POS system skills
• Reliable, professional, and detail-oriented
