To participate in the design of bespoke fabricated handling equipment for the offshore and marine engineering sector. Job Purpose
To participate in delivering key product solutions in a dynamic design environment Based on a diverse range of existing technology, work with colleagues to:
Ensure current products are deployed appropriately and safely to suit client requirements Modify existing products to suit a tailored set of client requirements Innovate new bespoke solutions to solve unique challenges clients may be experiencing
Maintain good working relationships internally with other departments and externally with the client Keeping abreast of developments within the industry and help to ensure client remains seen as a leader in their field Main Responsibilities
Ensuring engineering design packages in full compliance with customers requirements and all relevant codes and standards Participate in the approval of design packages Support and mentoring of engineering team members Producing conceptual designs and detailed engineering analysis using available methods Producing 3D model drawings Liaising with appropriate departments to ensure clients requirements are fully met Preparing design specifications Preparing general arrangement drawings and assembly drawings, manufacturing drawings, material take off lists and bill of materials. Advising and instructing operations staff with respect to testing and assembly of equipment Attending client meetings as required, identifying design engineering requirements and processes to meet client needs Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical (preferred), Civil or Marine Engineering. Working towards Chartered membership of relevant professional engineering institute. Skills and Experience
Design experience from first principles. Competence in 3D modelling and drafting (AutoCAD Inventor in use) Experienced of, and competent in carrying out, checking and approving engineering design packages. Understanding of and interpretation of FEA techniques. Personal Qualities
Excellent analytical skills. Lateral thinker who uses their initiative to provide engineered solutions. Forthcoming with ideas. Highly motivated, enthusiastic, team player, who is also happy to work independent of others. Effective time manager that ensures a quick turnaround of engineering requirements. Excellent organisational skills. Consistent and structured approach to work. Prioritises own and others workloads.
