We are hiring a Picker/Packer for our busy distribution center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for accurately fulfilling customer orders by picking items from warehouse shelves and preparing them for shipment. Your duties will include using an RF scanner to locate products, carefully selecting the correct items and quantities, and then packing them securely and efficiently. Attention to detail is crucial to ensure order accuracy and minimize shipping errors. This position is vital to our logistics operations, ensuring our customers receive their orders correctly and on time. You will work in a team environment, contributing to the overall efficiency of the packing and shipping departments. A commitment to safety is paramount; you must follow all established procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The role involves considerable physical activity, including walking extensively throughout the warehouse and lifting moderately heavy items. Experience with order fulfillment processes and a strong work ethic are highly valued.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately pick items for customer orders using RF scanners and pick lists.
- Verify item numbers, quantities, and descriptions to ensure order accuracy.
- Pack items securely in appropriate boxes or containers, using dunnage as needed.
- Apply shipping labels and prepare orders for dispatch.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation and picking/packing area.
- Assist with restocking picked items back into inventory locations.
- Adhere to all company safety regulations, including proper lifting techniques and the use of PPE.
- Report any damaged goods or discrepancies to a supervisor immediately.
- Meet or exceed productivity and quality standards.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team atmosphere.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a picker/packer or in a warehouse environment is preferred.
- Proficiency with RF scanning equipment.
- Ability to read and understand order pick lists and product labels.
- Physical stamina to walk, stand, and lift for the duration of the shift.
- Capable of lifting up to 35 lbs repeatedly.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Understanding of basic logistics principles.
- Willingness to follow safety protocols and wear required PPE.
