You will be working in a close-knit and supportive team with other shift technicians with a responsibility to make important and influential decisions to optimise the process of water production to maintain output and water quality.
The base Location will be the Shalford Water Production site in Surrey (GU4 8BW) but will involve travel and responsibility to the wider Guildford area comprising five other Water Treatment Works and storage reservoirs.
Working Pattern will be on a 12-hour rotating shift.
This is a diverse and fast-paced role where no two days will be the same. It provides a fantastic opportunity to think differently about how we ensure the reliability and resilience of our assets, whilst developing our people and driving a sustainable operating model.
You will gain a wealth of exposure to the wider business in the largest Water and Wastewater Company in the UK. You will work with leaders from across the business, contractors and colleagues alike, ensuring health and safety are at the forefront of our work.

You will undertake ‘Level 5 Management of Water Production’ training, developing your competency and knowledge across wide-ranging aspects of water production.
What you’ll be doing as a Mobile Shift Controller
Work with site managers, on‑site maintenance, Water Quality and off‑site control centre teams whilst closely monitoring the process to maintain water production and a smooth‑running site.
Problem‑solve, respond and take control of challenging situations as they arise providing technical input.
Use Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) to monitor and control water treatment processes.
Carrying out sampling and related analysis to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
Manual fault finding, intervention and emergency response to maintain the treatment process or customer supply.
Maintaining documented records and shift logs.
Taking responsibility for your health and safety, highlight any potential issues, contribute to risk assessments, and take action to make the area safe where possible.
Keep your technical knowledge up to date and be aware of changes in procedures and asset standards.
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need is:
We are looking for someone who has experience working in a process and/or manufacturing environment in a control and quality assurance role.
Your experience may be from the water industry but may also be from food or product manufacturing, industrial brewing, or other utility industries.
You will have ‘hands‑on’ and practical experience with impeccable attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.
Have a ‘can‑do’ attitude, strong problem‑solving abilities, and take a solution‑focused approach.
Ability to remain calm and follow established procedures while communicating clearly and effectively.
Competent to use company IT systems and Microsoft Office.
If you have experience with SCADA software, please highlight this on your application.
A full UK driving licence as you will need to travel in a company vehicle to various operational sites.
