Daher is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to join the team in Sandpoint, Idaho. This role is responsible for supporting aircraft production by implementing design improvements for manufacturability and resolving electrical system non-conformities; sustaining the fleet through activities such as system upgrades, obsolescence management, and customer-driven enhancements; and contributing to new product development, including new aircraft models, all in accordance with 14 CFR Part 23 or relevant regulations. Requires experience in electrical systems and avionics or distributed real time control systems, with strong design and troubleshooting skills, as well as an understanding of aircraft manufacturing processes and certification requirements. This role is part of the product engineering team responsible for the type design of all Kodiak aircraft.
Primary Role and Responsibilities:
Create, review, and release electrical system drawings, wiring diagrams, and associated documentation.
Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to optimize electrical installation processes and reduce production time.
Manage obsolescence of electrical components by identifying and qualifying alternate parts or redesigning affected systems.
Substantiate and disposition electrical non-conformities in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
Maintain configuration control and ensure proper documentation of design changes.
Develop, review, and release customer-driven electrical system improvements for the fleet.
Provide engineering support for troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems on in-service aircraft.
Investigate and resolve electrical and avionics issues reported from the field.
Expand and maintain standard repair specifications for electrical systems.
Contribute to new product development, including electrical system design for new aircraft models.
Ensure designs comply with 14 CFR Part 23 and other applicable regulations in coordination with certification specialists.
Support certification activities, including preparation of compliance documentation and test plans.
Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to cross-functional teams.
Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers and support staff.
Assist with or perform testing of electrical systems to show compliance with pertinent regulations.
Create design reports and analysis.
What you need to have:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
Minimum 5 years of electrical detail/system design experience.
Broad-level knowledge of aircraft systems architecture
Familiarity with 14 CFR Part 23 and applicable certification requirements
Familiarity with DO-160 environmental requirements and testing
Familiarity with system safety concepts and processes including FHA, SSA, and FMEA as used in general aviation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills and proficiency with standard office software (e.g., MS Office Suite)
Additional Qualifications (preferred):
Pilot's license or operational knowledge of general aviation aircraft
Understanding of aerodynamics, aircraft performance, stability and control, and flight systems
Prior experience with ground and flight testing of avionics and electrical systems
Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies or supporting certification activities
Proficiency with PLM systems (Teamcenter preferred)
Proficiency using CAD for system design
Experience in electrical wiring (harness) design
