Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Utilities Estimator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for utility projects, ensuring competitive pricing, and supporting project planning and execution. This role requires a strong understanding of construction estimating, project management, and contract negotiation, with a focus on utility infrastructure. The Utilities Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to deliver precise estimates that align with project scope and budget.

Duties

  • Develop detailed utility project estimates using Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other estimating software tools.
  • Analyze construction plans, specifications, and contracts to determine scope of work and cost factors.
  • Prepare comprehensive bid packages including pricing, labor, materials, and equipment costs.
  • Conduct negotiations with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
  • Assist in project planning by providing cost control insights and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with construction management teams to ensure estimates align with project timelines and budgets.
  • Monitor market trends and update estimating databases to reflect current costs for materials and labor.
  • Support contract development by reviewing terms related to scope of work, pricing, and change orders.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in construction estimating, preferably within utility or infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and construction management software tools.
  • Strong knowledge of construction site processes, cost control strategies, and project management principles.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with contracts, bidding procedures, and regulatory requirements related to construction projects.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Construction site experience is highly desirable to understand on-the-ground realities impacting estimates.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory based on experience. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to large-scale utility projects while working within a dynamic team environment focused on excellence in construction delivery.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $67, $120,000.00 per year
