Veterinary Technician Assistant (Full-Time or Part-Time)
Pay: $21–$25 per hour
Overview:
Veterinary Technician Assistants are an essential part of our veterinary team. We respect, train, and provide an independent and gratifying work environment. We are currently in search of a compassionate, critical thinking, career-driven veterinary technician assistant. Candidates should possess a love for animals and a willingness to learn. Previous experience as a veterinary assistant is a plus. We can train you for certain aspects of the job as needed. Here at Veterinary Dental Specialists, we are not open on weekends, have no emergency hours, and value work-life balance.
Schedule:
- Hours: 7:30AM – 5:30 PM
Days: Monday through Thursday
Pay: $21–$25/hour depending on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in surgical clients, ensuring proper documentation and patient care details are obtained
- Answer and route phone calls professionally and efficiently
- Provide support during surgical procedures, including patient prep and potentially monitoring under supervision
- Assist doctors and technicians with patient handling, treatments, and follow-up care
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment
- Ensure client communication is handled with empathy and professionalism
- Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations
- Receive and place calls to clients for scheduling
- Maintain proper documentation through client and pet records
- Dispense prescription items per veterinarian instructions
- Utilize hospital systems for record-keeping and communication
- Collect and process client transactions accurately
- Educate clients on preventative care, treatment recommendations, and procedures
- Prepare surgical instruments and treatment areas
- Assist with physical exams, restraint, and venipuncture
- Take accurate patient vital signs
- Fill prescriptions and manage pharmacy communications
- Keep accurate inventory records
General Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Fear Free Certified Professional (preferred)
- Prior experience in a veterinary setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Ability to handle animals safely and with care
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
