Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant to join our healthcare team. This role involves supporting licensed speech-language pathologists in delivering therapy services to children and students across various settings, including schools and pediatric clinics. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping children improve their communication skills and possess relevant experience in pediatric speech therapy. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with children, contribute to early intervention programs, and support individualized education plans (IEPs). The role requires a compassionate approach, strong communication skills, and a solid understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to speech and language disorders.
Duties
- Assist licensed Speech-Language Pathologists in implementing therapy plans for children with speech, language, and communication disorders
- Conduct therapy activities tailored to individual student needs within educational or clinical settings
- Support students during speech therapy sessions, ensuring engagement and progress toward goals
- Prepare therapy materials and assist with documentation related to patient progress and session notes
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and healthcare professionals to support early intervention initiatives
- Monitor student responses during therapy sessions and report observations to supervising clinicians
- Maintain a clean and organized therapy environment adhering to safety standards
- Participate in team meetings focused on student progress, IEP development, and treatment planning
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in pediatric or school settings preferred
- Knowledge of speech therapy techniques and familiarity with pediatrics, early intervention, and IEP processes
- Understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to speech-language pathology
- Prior experience working with students or in acute care environments is advantageous
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting children's developmental needs
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and adapt therapy activities as needed for individual students
- Relevant certification or licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant is required or pending certification
