Entry-Level CAD Technician

Role Description

We are seeking an Entry-Level CAD Technician to join our team in Midland, TX. This role bridges the gap between field data and engineering design. You will utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to create 2D equipment layout plans, process flow diagrams, and as-built drawings for oil and gas projects.

Attention to detail is paramount in this position. Beyond standard drafting, you will be responsible for accurately inputting and verifying detailed equipment specifications. This role is heavily focused on Geomatics; you will regularly work with basemaps, drone imagery, and survey data to ensure geospatial accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Precision Drafting: Produce accurate 2D equipment layout plans and simple Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs).
• Equipment Specification Management: Input, verify, and annotate equipment specifications (serial numbers, dimensions, pressure ratings, model numbers, materials) on drawings.
• Geomatics Integration: Import and manipulate drone imagery (orthomosaics), survey points, and basemaps within Civil 3D to create georeferenced drawings.
• As-Built Development: Update drawings based on redlines and survey data to reflect "as-built" for pipelines, power and facilities.
• Data Integrity: Ensure all text, tags, and attribute data within the CAD files and GIS platforms.

Qualifications:

• Formal CAD Education: Must possess a Technical Certificate in Drafting/Design, an Associate's Degree in CAD technology, or a verified completion of a comprehensive CAD training program or equivalent.

Preferred / Bonus Skills (Candidate may have any of the following):

• Certifications: AutoCAD Certified User (ACU) or AutoCAD Civil 3D Certified Professional.
• Geomatics/Survey Knowledge: Experience with coordinate systems, GPS data, or Total Station data.
• Oil & Gas Experience: Pumper/Roustabout experience, or familiarity with reading P&IDs and equipment datasheets.
• Drone Knowledge: Part 107 Drone License or experience with mapping software.
• GIS Experience: Familiarity with ArcGIS or QGIS.
• QA/QC Experience: Ability to spot errors in data entry and ensure specifications match source documents exactly.
• Computer literacy and strong file management skills.
