Job Profile Summary:
- Claims Assistant promotes workers' compensation incidents to claims, notify the VWCC of new claims via electronic FROI and follow-up with claimant's regarding timely reporting.
- Field all office mail and send to the appropriate claim examiners.
- Process legal and medical documents, attaching them to the appropriate claim files.
- Deal with the general public in a professional manner by answering calls, and communicating electronically and in-person.

Responsibilities:
- Electronic Claims Promotes electronic workers' compensation incidents to claims in the Origami claims handling system, and, in the event of an incomplete incident, contacts the claimant (employee) to obtain missing information and promote timely reporting. Notifies the workers' compensation claims examiners of any duplicate incident reports or any trends (i.e. multiple employees affected by the same incident/exposure, etc.).
- Paper Claims Sorts and distributes all mail for Insurance Risk and Claims Departments daily so that the appropriate employee receives all documents pertaining to their claims.
- After claim examiners have viewed and returned their documents, scans, labels and attaches the documents electronically to the appropriate claim file in Origami claims handling system.
- Communicates/Assists Third Parties Communicates with co-workers, claimants (employees), and vendor companies in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Provides assistance to personnel to help to ensure that all incidents are promoted within the requested time frame, and that all questions/problems are answered within 2 work days.
- Process Improvement Looks for new ways to improve existing processes.
- Identifies redundancies in processes within and across lines of business and develops new processes to make the department more efficient.
- Miscellaneous Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned and/or participates in special projects in order to support the mission of organization and the Department.
- Provides assistance to team members.
- Accepts alternate assignments, as required, graciously.
