Main roles and accountability
House Parent Support
Collaborate with House Parents to deliver pastoral care for boarding students, offering emotional support, listening to concerns, and covering duties during days off to maintain a safe, nurturing environment. Uphold house rules and mobile phone policies (e.g., sealing phones in pouches overnight), support discipline while fostering positive relationships, and ensure welfare issues or damage are logged and reported accurately. Maintain friendly yet professional boundaries—never becoming "friends" with students—to promote respect and safety.
Student Well-Being Supervision
Serve as a trusted role model and key point of contact for students' personal concerns, offering emotional support and fostering a positive camp environment. Support Medical Officers by supervising unwell students, enabling medical staff to focus on clinical duties. Actively engage with students during breaks, encourage adherence to camp rules including phone restrictions, promote social interaction, and promptly address behavioural issues. Also assist in collecting weekly student feedback, which helps monitor wellbeing and improve the camp experience.
Daily Routines & Administration
Support daily routines by managing morning wake-ups, bedtime checks, lights-out, and room tidiness to ensure students are prepared for activities or rest. Handle practical tasks like laundry, sickness protocols, and emergency coordination, while supervising mealtimes to encourage positive behaviour, social inclusion, healthy eating, and overall wellbeing.
Player Self-Assessment & Learning Journal Support
Ensure students complete sports self-assessment forms during the Sunday welcome house meeting as an integral part of their Exsportise journey. Encourage students to maintain a learning journal where they reflect on their experiences and achievements throughout their time at Exsportise, fostering ongoing personal development and engagement with their progress.
Evening Entertainment and Weekends
Assist evening entertainment organised by Events Managers by encouraging student participation, supervising activities, and fostering a fun, inclusive atmosphere. During trips and weekend excursions, ensure student safety by enforcing age-appropriate free-time policies, conducting roll calls, providing pastoral support, and maintaining clear communication with staff and students. Also support airport transfers by warmly welcoming new students at arrival points and assisting departing students, ensuring welcome periods are brief and continuously supervised under Exsportise care.
Additional Duties
Attend daily meetings, adhere strictly to the Staff Handbook guidelines, assist with camp set-up and pack-down as needed, and undertake any other reasonable duties to support smooth operations
