Role Description
The Azure Cloud Systems Engineer designs, implements, and maintains Hudson Cloud Systems' Azure-based infrastructure supporting dental practices, DSOs, and healthcare institutions.The role focuses on Azure IaaS/PaaS, AVD, and mission-critical Cloud Portal operations, ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and HIPAA-compliant performance across all environments.
Responsibilities
- Architect, deploy, and manage Azure compute, storage, networking, and managed services.
- Build and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery using ASR, Azure Backup, and geo-redundant storage.
- Plan, deploy, and manage Azure Virtual Desktop environments including session hosts and user profiles.
- Integrate Azure AD with on-prem identity solutions for seamless authentication.
- Implement HIPAA-aligned security: encryption, segmentation, RBAC, and related controls.
- Automate deployments using IaC (ARM, Bicep, Terraform).
- Build CI/CD workflows with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Configure Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and App Insights for performance and security visibility.
- Collaborate with Security, Business Development, and Field Support on client deployments and escalations.
- Document infrastructure, procedures, and configuration changes for compliance and operational continuity.
- Stay current on Azure platform updates and evaluate new cloud technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in IT or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years hands-on Azure engineering experience across core services.
- Experience deploying and managing Azure Virtual Desktop or similar VDI platforms.
- Proficiency with IaC (ARM, Bicep, Terraform) and scripting (PowerShell, Azure CLI, Python).
- Strong networking knowledge: VNets, VPN/ExpressRoute, NSGs, security architecture.
- Understanding of healthcare IT requirements including HIPAA compliance.
- Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and App Insights.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Performance Expectations
- Maintain 99.9 percent uptime for Cloud Portal Azure systems.
- Complete infrastructure deployments and updates within agreed timelines.
- Deliver monthly system performance, security, and compliance reports to the CTO.
- Resolve escalated technical incidents within 48 hours, coordinating with Microsoft support when required.
