Accounting Supervisor / Assistant Controller – Position Description

Seeking an Accounting Supervisor / Assistant Controller. The position will report to the Controller and supervise a team of Accounting Clerks and Accountants. They will be responsible for managing and coordinating the accounting team, including accounts payable and receivable, joint interest billing, revenue processing, general ledger activities, etc. They will work closely with the Controller to develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise the day-to-day activities of the accounting team, including accounts payable and receivable, joint interest billing, revenue processing, and general ledger activities
  • Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data to identify and resolve discrepancies and errors
  • Assist in preparing financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis
  • Provide guidance and training to accounting staff as needed
  • Help in the development and implementation of financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Assist with local, state, and federal tax returns

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred
  • Oil and gas related experience is a plus
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • 1+ year of supervisor experience preferred
  • Strong technical skills, including Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, power query, complex formulas)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Organizational skills to work on interdepartmental projects with both direct reports and multiple levels of management
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • SELF STARTER
