WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Quality Inspector is responsible for quality standards in the performance of routine, nonstop, high production manufacturing products and components. Inspectors monitor the equipment, review output, and conduct product checks by sight, lift, or feel to locate imperfections. Conducts a variety of Final and W.I.P. Inspection tests as detailed in the Quality Assurance Inspection Control Plans and customer requirements. Reads gauges to ensure that established standards are maintained. Where defects are found, marks the defective area and returns the defective product to the respective department. Complete inspection and testing records detailing product bundle or serial number, date of inspection, the status of inspection and identify the defective area(s) on both product and testing record. Support all inspection/testing/packing operations, and when required cross-training for other operations to support production/module performance.

KEY RESULT AREAS (KRA)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Monitor, inspect, or test operations, and/or measure to ensure that the product conforms to specification, design, production standards, or merchandising instructions.
  • Measure products with rulers or gauges (digital and manual) to coincide with the dimension of the product.
  • Notify supervisor or production supervision of any issue or discrepancies during shift operation, discuss inspection results, and assist to analyze and recommend adjustments or enhancements to the assembly or production process. Record results of inspections and test data through test reports
  • Accept or reject finished items. Perform 100% visual inspections on in-process and completed products for compliance with company standards.
  • Upon completion of testing, ensure the product is clean, serial number are applied correctly (if needed).
    Perform various product testing. This includes but is not limited to:
    Leak testing dry suits, and dry suit components (must be able to stand most of the day and lift/rotate- - 15lbs).
  • Air retention testing on PFDs.
  • Reviewing, filling out, and organizing quality paperwork.
  • Entering testing and visual inspection data in QA spreadsheets.
  • Closing out products in the company's MRP system once completed.
  • Assisting Production as required.
  • Pack finished units as needed per Packing instructions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures and takes initiative to make suggestions to the supervisor to improve work processes.
  • Maintains a clean and safe immediate workspace. Follows all Safety Regulations and reports all hazards, injuries, and accidents to the supervisor immediately.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Speak, read and write English.
  • Experience: 1-3 Years of experience in Quality Assurance.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Knowledge and related quality control through education and/or experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail, a concern for quality control, and a strong work ethic.
  • Concentration skills to work for long periods and comfort handling repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to manage one's own time with the ability to work independently or as a team and a willingness to be flexible.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding and logic to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to adjust the controls of a machine quickly and repeatedly and accurately to exact positions with control precision with the ability to work quickly and accurately.
  • Ability of manual dexterity to quickly move hands, hands together with arms, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, assemble objects, and/or turn product right side out.
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Access database, knowledge, and experience of an ERP system.
  • Ability to check others' work for accuracy.
  • Ability to develop a climate of enthusiasm, teamwork, and cooperation among employees.

Frequently required to stand, bend, walk, and stretch for an extended amount of time working in a fast environment. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, visual color discrimination, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives, and protective eyewear can be worn. The noise level in the work environment is typically not loud.
