Position Purpose:

The Senior Project Engineer for Design and Analysis serves as a technical leader in the design, analysis, and development of advanced engineering solutions. This role drives innovation and product optimization by integrating design engineering, simulation, and testing expertise. It also supports strategic program execution through cross-functional collaboration, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure high-quality manufacturable, and cost-effective products.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop detailed Computer Aided Design (CAD) models and technical drawings for components, systems, and assemblies.
  • Specifies appropriate materials and components such as, but not limited to, metal, fiber-reinforced composite, and elastomeric materials.
  • Conducts Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations to evaluate structural, thermal, and fatigue performance.
  • Optimizes designs for performance, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Recommends suitable manufacturing processes and equipment to support design intent.
  • Designs and executes concept validation plans to ensure product performance and compliance with standards.
  • Develop detailed testing requirements for new products, materials, and processes.
  • Prepares and delivers test reports, sign-off documentation, and production readiness assessments.
  • Automates analysis workflows using macros or scripts to improve efficiency.
  • Manages technical aspects of multiple or major engineering programs.
  • Coordinates design, analysis, and testing activities with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers, especially in simulation tools and interpretation of results.
  • Develops and presents technical materials to internal teams and steering committees.
  • Supports strategic initiatives through process improvement, waste reduction, and employee development.
  • Promotes safety and best practices in office and laboratory environments.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is required; master's degree is a bonus.
  • Certifications such as, but not limited to, Professional Engineer (PE), FEA, CAD, and Project Management, are a bonus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of six years' experience in engineering.
  • Experience in mechatronics is preferred.
  • Direct involvement and proficiency in CAD and FEA.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, material science, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to manage technical aspects of engineering projects including coordination with cross-functional teams.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical reporting and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor or coach junior engineers in design and analysis.
