DEPARTMENT AND LOCATION:

Bookstore; Blake Hall, FVCC Kalispell Campus

ELIGIBILITY:

Open to Work Study eligible FVCC Students (as determined by Financial Aid), enrolled in a minimum of six credits per semester.

START DATE:

This position will start Fall Semester, 2025

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:   

Academic Calendar Year 2025/2026

WORK SCHEDULE:

Flexible schedule between Monday and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., may work up to 19 hours per week

DRESS CODE:

Casual wear with appropriate coverage.

POSITION PURPOSE/ROLE:

Supports the Bookstore and/or supervisor

POSITION DUTIES:
Under minimum supervision:

  • Provides quality customer services to all Bookstore customers and visitors by approaching and greeting them and offering assistance
  • Performs cashier functions
  • Cleans Bookstore area and maintains general cleanliness, and stocks shelves
  • May perform other like duties

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Current FVCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester, and
  • Previous cashiering experience, and
  • Ability to work with a minimal level of supervision as well as in a team environment, and
  • Ability to be self-motivated, and
  • Ability to consistently provide quality customer service to customers, visitors and coworkers and
  • Ability to problem-solve and follow directions, and be self-motivated, and
  • Possesses a cooperative spirit in working with peers, supervisors, students and the public

STUDENT SKILL DEVELOPMENT: 

Communication skills, critical thinking, planning, collaboration, customer service, professionalism

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES:

  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits for fall or spring semester to qualify for student employment.
  • Students may not work beyond 19 hours per week during semester.
  • Student workers shall be actively engaged; no use of cell phones (except in case of emergency) or social media.
  • Student workers shall demonstrate a commitment to the job with adherence to work schedule, effective communication/interpersonal skills, and quality customer service skills to be a representative of FVCC.
