Overview
This position is responsible for Implementing AGV (Automatic Guided Vehicle) systems both in-house and at customer sites. It requires understanding a customer's material handling requirements and then designing, developing, testing, and documenting the software and/or system hardware such that customer expectations are met or exceeded. The position is expected to work both independently and as a contributing team member to support customers by providing technical assistance across the product range including that of system integration, programming, run off, installation and start up. Also expected to maintain customer relationship and Scott System International reputation as a quality and trusted automation solutions provider.
Responsibilities
AGV Vehicle and Systems Programming.
Onsite System Installation and verification, Client Training and Customer Support.
System Modifications, Repairs, and Product Improvement.
Local 5S and Safety practices.
Meet planning and deadlines.
Assist with operations and maintenance manuals.
Provide daily updates to the Project Manager.
Keeping accurate and up to date records on all aspects of work done, using approved document formats and storage locations.
General
a. To keep up to date on the latest Scott Systems International practices and policies.
b. To comply with local health and safety compliance procedures to meet both legislation and Industry standards as communicated by the company and consistent with the company's Health & Safety Management system.
c. Where appropriate, to manage company compliance as required by legislation or best practice.
d. To ensure their own personal career development and that of the team is encouraged with attendance at appropriate educational courses and training programs. In particular, will achieve and maintain appropriate expertise in people relationships, employee motivation and effective management.
e. Will be involved and support the Group's Continuous Improvement Program to ensure we deliver high quality products and services in less time. Involvement will typically be within improvement project teams as a team participant or team leader.
f. Perform any other duties as may be required or assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Minimum 5 years experience with industrial automation, including programming experience with PLC's, Structured Text programing, Codesys.
Experience using Kollmorgen or Navitec AGV products, including all software options and hardware is a plus.
Experience with AGVs.
CAD knowledge desired.
Electrically qualified to understand, troubleshoot, and service 480V 3 phase electrical equipment, DC controls, and battery power mobile equipment.
The ability to lead integration and programming of a complex systems.
The ability to train Scott Systems International technical personnel on both basic and advanced integration and programming.
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Excellent problem solving skills.
Self-motivated, confident, able to conduct training in small groups. Proficient and professional verbal and written communications.
Commercially aware of cost implications and sensitive to sales opportunities.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to pass drug screen and reference check.
Good mechanical and technical comprehension, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Must be able to pay attention to detail, follow detailed processes and reporting requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of a technical Associate's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Computer Science preferred. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelors degree in the same area desired.
