Job Summary
Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Kennel Assistant, where your enthusiasm for animal care and exceptional handling skills will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. In this vital role, you will provide top-notch kennel management, ensure the comfort and safety of animals, and support veterinary staff with daily operational tasks. Duties
- Maintain clean, safe, and comfortable kennel and treatment areas for animals in our care.
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and medication administration to ensure safety for both pets and staff.
- Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians by handling animals during procedures, including animal catheterization and laboratory sample collection.
- Perform deep cleaning, restocking, sterilizing surgical equipment, maintain kennel and surgical laundry, general janitorial duties.
- Handle animal physiology and anatomy knowledge to assist with diagnostic procedures or laboratory testing when needed.
- Support emergency response efforts by understanding veterinary critical care protocols and assisting with urgent animal needs.
- Ensure compliance with veterinary terminology standards and safety protocols during all interactions.
Qualifications
- Previous kennel experience or animal husbandry background is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and restraint techniques.
- Experience working in a veterinary clinic or with veterinary assistants is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with medication administration, aseptic techniques, and laboratory procedures related to pet care.
- Ability to handle a variety of animals confidently, including dogs, cats, and equine species when applicable.
- Strong communication skills for front desk duties and team collaboration.
- Demonstrated understanding of animal behavior, restraint methods, and pet care best practices.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift animals safely, and perform cleaning tasks efficiently. Pay: $ $17.00 per hour
